ChatGPT Prompt Generator
Describe what you want in ordinary words. This turns it into a prompt with the parts ChatGPT actually responds to — a role, the context it is missing, explicit constraints, and the shape of the answer you want back. It runs below, free, with no account.

What makes a ChatGPT prompt work
Name the output format before you ask
ChatGPT will happily give you five paragraphs when you wanted a table. Saying "answer as a 5-row markdown table with columns X, Y, Z" removes an entire round of back-and-forth, because the model commits to a shape before it starts writing.
Give it the constraints, not just the goal
The difference between a mediocre answer and a usable one is usually the things you did not say: who is reading it, how long it should be, what tone, what to avoid. ChatGPT fills those gaps with the blandest plausible default, so fill them yourself.
Tell it what NOT to do
ChatGPT hedges by default — it adds caveats, restates your question, and offers "it depends". An explicit "no preamble, no disclaimers, no summary at the end" is often the single highest-leverage line in the whole prompt.
Ask for reasoning when the answer matters
For anything with a right answer — maths, logic, code, comparisons — asking it to work through the problem step by step before committing measurably improves accuracy. For creative work it mostly just adds noise, so leave it out.

What actually gets a usable answer
You are a B2B salesperson writing to a founder you have never met. Write a cold email opening a conversation about our analytics tool. Constraints: - Under 90 words - Reference a specific problem their team likely has, do not flatter them - One clear ask: a 15-minute call - Plain, direct tone — no corporate filler, no "I hope this email finds you well" Return only the email body and a subject line. No commentary.
Same request. The second one works because it answers the questions ChatGPT would otherwise have to guess at.
Common questions
Is this ChatGPT prompt generator free?
Yes. You can generate prompts on this page without an account. The Chrome extension adds one-click prompting directly inside ChatGPT and keeps a history of what you have written.
Do I need a ChatGPT Plus subscription?
No. The prompts this produces work on the free tier of ChatGPT, on Plus, and through the API. A better prompt helps most on weaker models, not least.
Will these prompts work on other AI models?
Largely, yes — clear role, context, constraints and output format help every model. But the details differ, which is why there are separate pages for Claude, Gemini and DeepSeek.
